i cheat my meat

Half of the editorials ive done thus far have been composites of separate images done on their own paper, usually. Unless I'm hard up for time I usually do them on separate paper. Oddly enough, the ones that are my favorites/look the best are the ones that were done all one on sheet of paper. Go figure. Here are the pieces...

I'm sure doing it this way is what causes me to almost miss deadline sometimes. But doing it like a puzzle helps keep my mind clear and helps me focus more, even if it does take a few hours more with the scanning and such. I'd never do this for my own person stuff. I just like to have better control over my shit when dealing with this particular employer... incase they want to make change @ last minuet it can be done in seconds. Read the article here.

coffee wars

Instead of uploading the finished version i figured id keep it fun and upload the pieces of it and how it printed on the actual page. I should upload more doodles and junk. S'been a while, yo. Here are some of the doodles alone and stuff... Way too much fun.

Another commission for the paper. Story was about how zoning is all effed up in the burg. Being that technically I live in spotsy, 2 miles out of city limits, but our mailing address is fredericksburg. ...this goes the same for stafford residents and some other people. I dunno. I didnt like how the colors turned out for the version i turned in so ill be fixing those up to post and shit. It has this dope insane maze i made combining 3 mazes i found together then adding walls and deleting walls all with the pencil tool.

Colored version. Came out pretty good I think. Not quite Hanuka, but DEFINITLY in the vein of thier styles. I'll have to hold on to this one and do a lot more so I can get a sustem down on how to do this fast so I can crank out more fully finished peices. Rock.

plastic surgery n'shit

Sketch for an illustration running in this upcoming Tuesday's paper. Stupid excited to finish this shit and lay some Hanuka Bros styled coloring over it I've been wanting to do for SO long.. but waited until I had the right lines to lay over it.
Word. Felt weird drawing semi-realistically again. Hope I can keep the torch lit to bang out some comic pages this week.

But ill update with some recent crap anywho.

First one was for a "going away" gift for a CRAZY-talented(and cute) friend/co worker of mine. Her last day at the paper was yesterday. Wish I had a color copy of the photos they made a joke newspaper page for her with. Ahahha... TOO sexy/hilarious. Good luck to her on her travels. The second one was for the husband of another talented photographer I work with. A caricature of his friend who recently passed, to go on a t-shirt for a race they're holding to raise money for research in the cancer he had. HEAVY. I usually scoff @ doing stuff that like.. MEANS something to people. Crazy pressure :D I havent done a "classical" caricature in well over 4 years. People seem to dig it I guess.

Another spot illustration I did for work that ran in Thursday's paper. It didn't run as large as the previous one, but more people are likely to see it; it was printed during a weekday and not weekend. I'm wishing I had pivoted the screen so it was at an angle... I'm not mad at you homey :D

This time around there was more of an idea which had to be shown, though I dig the last better. They kinda let me do whatever. I draw a page or three of thumbnails of how i'd do it. I run it by one or two people and they point to the one I should finalize. All the color stuff(I hate coloring anything, which is obvious in the quick polygon lasso stuff) characters and inking style is primarily my choice. I'd honestly like a shorter leash.

Mine and Derick's joined website, is real close to completeion. Been eating up the majority of my freetime as of late. Keep my phone off, havent been online.. alladat. Really excited to see this project lift off and explode.

Pin up/spot illus I did for work in the beginning of the week. It ran in today's paper so I'm allowed to post it now. Basically the idea is its cold as FCUK out... but there being wine tasting to warm up :D Wasn't my vision, but my execution.

I think it came out GREAT for what it is. I hope they give me more assignments often/soon.

Did this for a friend at work. She seemed to dig it. Gift to her boyfriend. Says he's hard to shop for. Why not some art, right? I NAILED his face perfectly I think(tho took liberties with his stubble... being that there wasn't any). HER face, not so much. I wanted to take it back from her, stop time and do it over. But my time machine is on the fritz. Never trust ACME products.

u__u Here's a secret; ALWAYS been bad at drawing the head/neck in that position. Even with live models. SHHhh... don't tell anybody else :D

Got slow at work tonight so I drew my favorite little guy Tijolo(tee-joh-lo, i know its pronouced wrong)... with the EVIL HAND. Looks good for never using this hand except for smudging and turning the paper. Maybe ill ink it with the left too.

This was brought on by me, after a whole summer of $15 tutorial magazines, still sucking in painter/photoshop as far as digital painting is conserned. HEHHHhhh. Ive been known to blame my tablet for that though.

Yeah yeah, its the motion in the ocean, but a bigger junks WOULD help me along ;)

Beter yet... screw a tablet. Gimme a bunch of cheap brushes, my dusty gouache set, some cardboard and a Django Reinhardt soundtrack and im good to go.

Leggo my Eggo

I'm having the hardest time in the world finding out what studio/artists are responcible for that new animated Eggo commercial. Its so dope, I love thier animation style. It has a strechy family with the daughter eating breakfast and the father tries to take her waffels but he accdentally lassos a truck passing by out of the window and gets yanked through it. Sounds awesome right? IT IS!

I tried all your basic youtube, metacafe, dailymotion, putfile, zippy videos, even ifilm(ha, theres a RACK of these places). Im a bit obsessive when it seems as if the internet has BESTED me :D I'll try and take a photo of it and maybe some really really bad quality mpg of it if I can catch it on again.

Usually airs on ABC Family, Cart.Ntwk &Boomerang ...cuz thats all I really watch outside of animal shows and cnn.
